This page covers both the smart-surgeons.com website and the Smart Surgeons patient app. Both are run by BG MEDCORP SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED, which operates the Smart Surgeons clinic in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. What the website collects
Most of your visit involves no data collection at all — browsing our pages, or tapping "WhatsApp Us" or "Call Us" simply opens your own WhatsApp or phone dialler, and we only see what you choose to send us there. Beyond that, the website collects information in two ways:

Cookies
Google Analytics sets small cookies in your browser to recognise repeat visits and measure how the site is used. These cookies don't identify you by name. We don't currently show a cookie-consent banner; you can block or clear cookies at any time in your browser's own settings, or use a browser extension that opts you out of Google Analytics.

If you submit our contact/enquiry form, it is emailed straight to clinic staff — it isn't stored in a separate database, and it isn't shared with anyone outside the clinic. We may share information when the law requires it (for example, a court order).
How long we keep it
- Contact/enquiry form submissions: as long as we need them to respond to you and keep a record of the enquiry, in line with how the clinic keeps its lead and appointment records.
- Analytics data: for as long as Google Analytics retains it under our account's settings — we don't extract or separately store this data ourselves.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- see what information we hold about an enquiry you sent us;
- correct it by contacting us (details below);
- ask us to delete an enquiry you sent, unless we need to keep it as part of a patient record or the law requires otherwise;
- withdraw your consent by simply not submitting the form, or blocking analytics cookies in your browser;
- nominate someone to use these rights for you if you cannot;
- complain to us (below), and then to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.

Who the app is for
The app is for patients who are already registered at Smart Surgeons and for Smart Surgeons staff. You cannot create a new account in the app: you log in with the mobile number the clinic already has for you. The app is meant for adults (18 and over).
What the app shows and keeps
Most of what you see in the app comes from your records at the clinic. The app reads them from the clinic's records system so you can see them on your phone.

Fingerprint / face / phone lock: if you choose to open the app with your fingerprint or face, your phone checks it. The app and the clinic never receive your fingerprint or face data.
Camera: only clinic staff use the camera, inside the app, to take treatment photos. Photos are not saved to the phone's gallery and are removed from the phone after they are uploaded.
Why we use your information
- To let you log in safely (a one-time code sent to your WhatsApp).
- To show you your visits, treatments, progress, photos, documents and payments.
- To let you book, confirm, move or cancel visits.
- To let our nurses record your treatment and keep your medical record complete.
- To show offers that suit the treatments you have had, your age group and gender. You choose whether to act on them.
- To find and fix problems with the app and keep it fast.
We use your information because you are our patient and have chosen to use the app (your consent), and because the law requires clinics to keep medical records.
Who else handles your information
We do not share your information with anyone for their own use. These companies handle it only on our behalf, to run the app:

When you tap "Know more" on an offer, the app opens your own WhatsApp with a message to the clinic. What you send there is handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
Clinic staff see your information only as their work needs. Every time a staff member opens the patient view of the app for your record, it is logged.
We may share information when the law requires it (for example, a court order).
How we protect it
- Everything travels between the app and our server encrypted (HTTPS).
- Photos and backups are stored privately and encrypted; there are no public links to them.
- Login codes expire after 30 minutes and are blocked after repeated wrong attempts.
- Your login is kept in your phone's secure storage; it lasts 90 days.
- Staff log in with their own clinic accounts; access ends when they leave the clinic.
How long we keep it
- Medical records, including treatment photos: as long as the law requires the clinic to keep medical records, and as long as the clinic needs them for your care.
- Records of how the app is used: 180 days.
- Login codes: 30 minutes.
- Backups: daily backups for 90 days, monthly backups for 1 year.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- see a summary of the information we hold about you;
- correct it: name, age and gender in the app (My details); anything else at the clinic's front desk;
- ask us to delete information that the law does not require us to keep. Medical records must be kept for the period the law sets, so we cannot delete those early;
- withdraw your consent to the app: just log out and uninstall it. Your records stay at the clinic as before;
- nominate someone to use these rights for you if you cannot;
- complain to us (below), and then to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
