Yes. Radiofrequency or laser is an additional procedure undertaken in addition to nail surgery to remove or ablate the nail matrix. These additional steps prevent the nail from growing back. This step is especially undertaken in case of recurrent infections or other nail problems.

Since these surgeries have both cosmetic and medical purposes, some insurance providers may ask for pre-authorization to give coverage.
