Is it possible to remove lipoma without surgery?
- Steroid injections in lipoma: While steroid injections have been shown to reduce the size of lipoma 1, they do not help in removing the lipoma, but can help in reducing its size. Can lipoma reduce in size? Can exercise remove lipoma?
Lipomas cannot shrink on their own, because these are not adult fat cells that respond to exercise. The fat cells that make lipoma are primordial (baby) fat cells and therefore the new treatment for lipoma is referred to as a tumor. Most tumors do not go away on their own. However, if you have a risk factor like obesity, then you might want to control this risk factor to prevent the lipoma from growing and recurring.
Exercise cannot remove a lipoma. While it is true that lipoma is made up of fat cells, these are different kinds of fat cells and this is a tumor. While fat cell deposition causes obesity, which does respond to exercise, lipoma is a tumor.
