- Apply the antibiotic cream prescribed by our doctor and then dress the toe with clean gauze cloth. Use medical tape to secure the dressing
- Look for any signs of infections such as redness, pain or discharge. If you find any of these symptoms immediately contact us
- Take all your medications as prescribed by the doctor that would have painkillers and if needed, antibiotics
- You should keep your toe covered or keep dressing it in the first week, both day & night.
- After the first week you can keep the toenail open at night but dress it during the day.
The healing period depends on the stage and extent of the ingrown toenail and treatment choice.
After surgery, our doctor prescribes painkillers to reduce pain and swelling. You may experience pain in the first 48 hours, after which it typically subsides. We typically have the first follow-up at this time during which, if you have too much pain, our doctor can advise you accordingly.
