FAQs on cost of skin biopsy

When do you need skin graft after a skin biopsy?

This is needed only in <2% cases and it is done when the biopsy area is large or very deep, requiring the surgeon to remove the biopsy tissue and surrounding boundaries. In such cases the skin cannot heal on its own and needs tissue from other parts to help in healing. In these cases skin grafts of partial or full thickness would be needed. Discuss this with our surgeon openly to fully understand the need and implications of skin graft after mole removal.

In this case our surgeon might ask for additional and advanced pathology tests on the biopsy tissue. Also, the surgeon may ask for additional tests such as x-ray or sonography to see if there are other problems in the nearby area.

If the results are negative, generally there might not be additional costs.
